More Valentine’s Gift Ideas

I’m still thinking of what kind of Valentine’s Day gift I should get my beautiful wife this year. I was looking at steel pendants and I thought the zodiac pendant might be nice. Another idea I had was to get us a hotel room out of town, maybe near the beach. A nice dinner and a stay at a hotel would be such a great way to relax. We’ll see, maybe we’ll do that in a few months.

Medical Insurance

I’m so glad we have good Medical Malpractice Insurance now that we’re having a little one. It’s such a relief knowing that no matter what happens, our insurance will cover us. I think one of the smartest decisions we made is to make sure we had optimal insurance coverage for our growing family. I don’t understand people that don’t do that, especially knowing they want kids.

The Advice I Wish We’d Listened To

A few years ago, my friend told us we should invest in gold. I don’t know why we didn’t just run out and buy gold coins right then and there. Well, I do know why. We were worried about investing, and we were broke at the time. Boy I wish we had listened. Now look at the price of gold. It’s skyrocketed! I think the next time we get a great piece of advice like that, we’re going to take it!

What to Get Your Wife for Valentine’s Day

It’s hard for me to come up with a gift idea for my wife this year. Since she’s pregnant, I don’t know if she’d appreciate sexy lingerie discount lingerie store. I know I still would, but she’s starting to get self conscious about her body. But between you and me, the Boobie fairy came to visit and I couldn’t be happier. So maybe that’s a Valentine’s Gift to me. :-)

I think instead I’ll take her out to dinner. She would really love that.

Just When You Think We’re Done With the Holidays

Valentine’s Day comes creeping up on us. I can’t believe it’s less than a month away. I like to think of it as a nothing holiday, just another excuse for the greeting card companies to make some extra cash. That said, my wife does deserve presents every now and then. I know she’d like a nice dinner out. When we were dating, she’d always come up with great valentines gifts for boyfriends that were so personal. I think I need to look online at Personal Creations and see if I can find a nice Valentine’s gift for my wife. With all that she does for me, our home, and our future baby, she deserves a nice gift!

Heading to the Folks’ House

This next week we’re heading up to my parents house for a long overdue visit. I love visiting them because their house is so relaxing. Not only do they have a beautiful pool, similar to the richmond pool, but they also have a great hot tub. Perfect for kicking back after a stressful work week. This visit I won’t be able to hang around the house for too long since I’m going to get my hunting license. But I still plan to squeeze in some hot tub time!

Tahoe Here We Come!

I’m so excited that for once my weekend isn’t going to consist of home improvement projects. Don’t get me wrong, I love my welding helmet as much as the next guy, but I need some time to just relax. So we’re heading up to Tahoe with another couple for an overnight stay at a resort. I’m hoping we get lucky and get some snow. There hasn’t been much snowfall there lately, but we tend to bring the luck when we travel. It’s going to be so nice to get out of town!

Just Call Me Joe Electrician

Yesterday and the day before I managed to install four new light fixtures in our house. Normally this wouldn’t be that hard to do. I would just swap them out in an ideal world. But unfortunately the last owners of this house did things pretty half assed. One of the light fixtures didn’t have an outlet box in the wall, so that had to be installed. Then I had to battle with the broken outlet boxes in the overhead light fixtures. That was a huge pain in the butt because insulation kept falling in my eyes. Luckily my wife was helping out and kept me relatively sane. I was very close to punching a hole through our walls! But now that we’ve done the worst, I think the rest should be pretty easy to do. We know what we’re doing now and it should go much more smoothly. I hope!

Looking Forward to Gardening

I know we’re still in the middle of winter, but sometimes I look out on our backyard, and I can’t help but be excited for the spring. I’m really looking forward to gardening in the new house, now that it’s OUR home. I have a lot of ideas. I want to put feather grass along the fence line, an transplant our Japanese Maple in the front yard. I also want to get a compost tumbler and make sure we are recycling our food waste. I’m really looking forward to putting my mark on the new place.

Hospital Duty

There is nothing more boring than when one of us draws the short straw and has to take an inmate to the hospital when on shift. It’s nothing but standing around literally watching the clock and the med carts go by. Some might say it’s relaxing because you don’t have to worry about much, but I would rather be busy during my work night. It makes the time go by faster and I feel like I get my exercise with always moving. But I can’t complain, otherwise I love my job and I couldn’t be happier with my career choice.
