I spent this last Saturday at the golden gate fields watching auto X. It was a lot of fun and I got tons of sun. I had a total raccoon face by the end of the day. My buddy Dan took first in the fsp group with his 1.5L 92 civic. Its crazy because when it comes to autocross you don’t need a very powerful car. The civic he drives is putting out about 115 hp at the crank and he still gets better times the Porsche gt3′s and rx-7′s. Good times become more dependent on the driver then on the car. The course itself also determines which cars will do the best. With a more technical track the smaller lighter cars tend to do better, however with long straights and wide turns the more powerful cars will get better times. what is fun about auto X is you get a good mix of both race cars not intended for street use as well as everyday drivers with headlights, car insurance and normal street tires. Here are a couple pics from the weekend

I have a childhood friend who just lost his brother in a motorcycle accident. Motorcycles are extremely dangerous and I feel bad that it had to happen to my buddy who has also lost his mother and father in the last 3 years. I wasn’t super close to Dave but I grew up with him he was always a nice shy quiet kid. I know he will be dearly missed by his friends and family. The accident was a single vehicle accident and no one else was hurt so I don’t think the family will be needing the services of a Oakland motorcycle accident lawyer. But it is nice to know there are people out there who specialize in helping families like my friends. On a happier note my friend dan just got first at a divisional race for auto X in his class. Good job buddy.
