Pickle In Your Pocket

So we’re packing up our place and moving out as soon as possible. We can’t wait to get out of our place and away from our whiskey tango neighbors! While we were packing I noticed just how much crap women have. Luckily my Tess is pretty much like a guy and doesn’t have a lot of girlie things, but she still has a lot of toiletries, like nail polish, eye cream, all kinds of lotions, hair stuff, make up, and other things I can’t even figure out what the heck they are. I can’t imagine how much worse it would be if she were a girlie girl. But then again, I’d just dump her if she was, LOL!!

Tess and I got into a strange conversation on our nightly walk last night. We were talking about how last summer my cousin gave us all palm readings at a wedding we went to. She predicted that I would have a serious accident, and basically die at an early age. It was kind of eerie and out there. I’m sure it’s not true, but Tess pointed out that her palm reading was pretty accurate, and predicted some pretty key things in her life. Maybe I should get some online life insurance just to be on the safe side, HA!

Being so busy really sucks. I haven’t had any time to work out, and I feel like I’m getting fat, even though Tess says I’m not. We’re both frustrated because it feels like we have no free time lately, between packing, work, classes, and my internship. At least being this busy is like an appetite suppressant. I’ve been doing portion control since I can’t hit the gym. Hopefully once we move things will slow down and I can get back into my routine.

So last month I had to take the Subi into the shop, like I blogged before. Unfortunately it was more money than I planned to spend, and now we’ve got a move coming up, so that means no more spending money on my car for awhile. I wasn’t even able to get Tess a big birthday present. I tried to tell Tess that at least my car parts are less expensive than truck accessories but even I know that’s a weak argument. Good thing she’s such a good girlfriend and she didn’t harass me about spending the money too badly. She knows I’ll make it up to her soon enough. And I did get her a spa pedicure, so she’s pretty excited about that.

So yesterday was the Beerfest in Healdsburg. It’s an annual event that Tess and her friends go to, but we missed it last year, so this was my first time going. I met a lot of Tess’s friends from college, including an ex, who I actually got along with. He had a really bad car accident about a year ago, and just got out of a wheelchair that he was stuck in for 6 months. Talk about bad luck! We talked about how it expensive it would have been to hire
Oakland motorcycle accident lawyer if there had been another vehicle involved, but luckily there wasn’t. I don’t think Tess will let me get a motorcycle anytime soon after her friend was in such a bad crash.
Besides that, the beerfest was a blast. A couple of our friends work for local breweries, and hooked us up with free pours. So instead of getting our three pours like we’re supposed to get, we got a ton, and well, we were pretty much trashed by the end of the day. My favorite beer there would have to be Hop Stoopid by Lagunitas. If you’re in the area, you should try it out.

Tess’s birthday is just a few days away and I’ve been stumped on what to buy her. I found this cool website that carries jewelery for women, and I thought I could get her a necklace or some nice earrings. Eventually I’ll get her a ring, but not right now.

What’s cool about the website is they have a section just for tips for guys. They have a whole section on what to give, and when. That way you’re not sending the wrong message, such as when you’re not ready to give the engagement ring, but you want her to know you’re still serious. The site even breaks down the time frame of your relationship, 3 months, 6 months, ecetera. It’s great for us clueless guys so we don’t make a mistake when it comes to jewelery. So we’ll see, the website says I can either do a necklace or a gemstone ring that’s not an engagement ring. I think I might just wait and do the engagement ring because she’s not a huge jewelery person anyways. Still, it’s nice to know there’s a great website out there for when I’m at a loss for what to get!

While I was gone on vacation, I took my Subaru to my local shop and had them install some of the parts I’ve been needing to put in the car, but haven’t had the tools or the time to do it. I put in new fuel injectors and a new turbo. They dynoed it for me for free, and it’s now running at 280 HP. I wasn’t putting the new parts in for the extra horse power, but I’m not gonna complain.

Coming back from vacation to our crowded ass town was rough. Both me and Tess are getting sick of where we live. There are too many people and the town is overgrown with bad drivers and too many idiots with too many damn kids.

We’d love to move to Monterey or Carmel, somewhere along the coast. The small town, laid back vibe appeals to both of us. For now though, we’re thinking of just moving one town over, where there are slightly less people, and the traffic isn’t as bad. Hopefully we’ll be moving in the next few months because pretty soon I’m just gonna snap at the next driver that cuts me off or idiot on their cell phone that drives 10 miles below the speed limit!

This past week my girlfriend and I went on vacation with my parents to Carmel. It’s been my family’s tradition to go to Carmel every summer since I was 5 years old, so I was really looking forward to it. I missed out last year because of Fire Academy so I was really excited to go this year. Plus I got to bring Tess for the first time, and since she’s amazing, I knew it’d be the best trip out there yet.

We ended up having a great time walking on the beach, playing frisbee, I swam in the ocean even. Yes, it was that nice out in Carmel, where it’s normally foggy every day. Both Tess and I managed to lose weight on the trip because of all the walking we did. Walking is even better than the best weight loss pills out there. And the best part is it doesn’t even feel like work. It was a good thing we walked so much because we ate a lot of good food while we were there, and drank gin and tonics every day (my fav!).

All and all, it was a great trip, and I can’t wait to go back next summer!
