Time really flies by. We just got an invitation to our good friends’ baby’s birthday party. At least they’re not religious and it wasn’t one of those first communion invitations. But the party is on a Sunday and I won’t be able to make it. It’s crazy to think about how many friends this little guy has. His parents are really popular so there’s going to be more people at this 1 year old’s party than our wedding! Haha. He’s a really cute little guy though, and he deserves a fun party. Too bad I have to miss it, but I know T will take lots of pictures for me!
The polygraph went great! I’m pretty excited about it. The interview before that went pretty smoothly, I got a 91%. The next step will be a background check where they will come to our house and check out how T and I live. I’m trying not to get too excited, but it’s hard not to. A job with a sheriff’s department would be an amazing step forward for me, and for my life with T. They will have great benefits, including a competitive life insurance rate, and also they pay me to go through academy. Keep your fingers crossed, this may be it!
If I do get the sheriff’s job, hopefully my fiance can start going to an online university and changing her career. I’ve told her before that I think she’d be a great nurse, and I found an online nursing degree program. Either that, or teaching. Eventually when we settle down in a good location, she can go back to a regular school, but this would be a nice alternative for now. The tuition is very inexpensive compared to a 4 year university and the classes schedules are very flexible for working students. Even though it’s an online university, there are assigned mentors to help students get through it. Sounds like a great idea for my bride to be!
I think I’m getting sick from this new schedule and all of the cigarette smoke in the casino. I hope my health insurance kicks in soon and is half as good as North Carolina health insurance. I’m pretty much tired all the time. I really really need a nap. At least i get the next two days off! Time to SLEEP.
Today I had to go into work during my day off (LAME) to attend a training on how to deal with drunk people. Um…pretty much common sense right? But at least I get to take off from work three hours earlier tomorrow night. Still, I think I would have rather had a colon cleanse than attend the meeting. Haha, just kidding. It was a waste of time, but it wasn’t THAT bad.
Is it just me or has the coverage of the Olympics gone way downhill in recent years? The 2010 Winter Olympics have had the worst coverage yet. All of these fluff pieces about the athletes, and then blatant favoritism of specific athletes make it so distracting. I wish it was like the good old days when you could choose what channel to watch the Olympics on, or skip around to you could watch more than one sport at once. Gone is the live coverage and instead we have to wait til prime time so the NBC execs can get their big paychecks. Grrr.
On the plus side, it’s still fun to watch the Olympics. Last night we watched the women’s downhill skiing. They were going so incredibly fast. Talk about the best weight loss supplement
This work schedule is giving me wrinkles. I think I may need some anti wrinkle cream at the ripe old age of 26. I’m just happy to report that I got an interview with the sheriff department in a county nearby. I really hope it goes well! I could use a vacation. The wedding isn’t so far away, and hopefully we finally get to go on a honeymoon in January. Woot woot. Let’s just hope I don’t look like an old man by then!
I made it past the first round of interviews for the sheriff position I applied for. Did I mention I applied to be a sheriff? I know I just started a new job, but a sheriff position would be a career, not just a job. Plus they pay for you to go through academy, which is better than the best weight loss pills you could buy. It’s rigorous training and I would love to get the chance to have career in law enforcement. I went in for the basic physical training and passed that easily enough, and now then I went to an oral interview. I ended up getting a 91%, and I only needed 83% to move on to the next step, which is the polygraph. So hopefully I’m in the upper quadrant of applicants. We’ll see how the polygraph goes. I can’t help but be a little bit nervous.
Yesterday T and I celebrated our second Valentine’s Day together. Luckily T isn’t the kind of girl who demands flowers and chocolates on this cheesiest of holidays. Still, she deserved something, so I took her to breakfast. It was a rare thing for us to get to spend that kind of time together since I started the new job. It was really nice, and afterwards she was sweet enough to let me sleep through the rest of the day. That night I woke up to a fancy home cooked meal and a homemade slideshow she’d made for us. My girl is the prettiest girl there is, but I’d love her even if she was covered with eczema. She’s amazing and last night I was so happy to call her my valentine.
I feel like I’m losing my muscle mass because I haven’t had the time or energy to get to the gym. Maybe I need to take the human growth hormone for now. I dunno, I am just frustrated with it. I know it’ll get better-once I get a good schedule going, I’ll be able to get some of my energy back and I can hit the gym. We’ve set up a little home gym in the spare room for me to work out in. It’s not anything fancy but it works for now.
