I was watching the news last night, and in between obnoxious ads for promotional tote bags and other useless crap, we learned about the new universal healthcare bill that just passed. From what I can tell, we still don’t know much about how this is going to affect the average person. All I know is I don’t like the idea of it being a federal law. If this universal system doesn’t work for us, we can’t decide to move to another state and go back to the way things were. I like the idea of choice, and we don’t have that now. Plus doing things on a federal level doesn’t make sense with the varying income levels. 80,000 and up get taxed might mean the rich get taxed in some states, but here in the bay area, 80,000 is when you are just starting to really make it. You’re definitely not rich, you just can finally afford a house. Our country is going down the crapper, that’s all I know…
I’ve had it with this state. I’m so sick of the overcrowding. The traffic, the idiots on the road, and the fact that even though we work our butts off, we can’t afford to buy a decent house. While we were out on our walk this afternoon, T and I discussed ways we could make a little extra money to help us save so we can move. Maybe we could write a book on how to lose weight fast. But then there are hundreds of websites, books and magazines devoted to that. Then as we were watching our dog try to chase the dogs from his leash we both thought it might be fun to write a children’s book. Even if we didn’t end up making money from it, at least it’d be cool to share with our kids.
I feel like this blog needs focus. Maybe I can do what T does and do quick trim reviews about books and tv. I don’t really watch a whole lot of tv shows except for cops, or discovery channel shows like Man vs. Wild. Or maybe I’ll just keep it the way it is and blog about whatever sparks my interest at the moment.
Right now I’m interested in buying a gun. I would love to go target shooting sometime, and also I’ll need one for if I get into academy. I’m hopefully going out next week with a buddy to practice shooting. Good ol’ boys time. I’m excited!
There are so many people out there who want to lose weight fast. I think it’s better to gradually lose weight and keep it off. How many people do you know that go on crash diets and lose a ton of weight, only to gain it right back as soon as they stop the diet. For me, it’s simple. Exercise, and eat right. Those two simple things have really worked for me.
My girl has started to worry about getting in shape for the big day. She was talking about taking alli weight loss supplements, but I have been encouraging her to go for walks. It’s amazing what just walking alone has done for my weight loss. Plus it’s so beautiful outside lately that we’ve been going for walks every day after work, and she goes on her lunch break too. I can’t wait til this summer when we can go swimming up at my parents house, or go on hikes. Hopefully I’ll have weekends off again soon and we can really take advantage of the great weather.
It’s ironic because usually jobs make you fat right? Unless your job is to be an athlete or something. But this new job of mine does have one benefit-I’m losing weight without even trying. I only wish I was gaining muscle too. But still, it’s nice to have that layer of fat gone. I walk for 8 hours a night so my body is just shedding the pounds. It’s been a pretty quick weight loss though. So much that most people I know are noticing. Maybe now it’s time to try to hit the gym so I don’t waste away.
Last week T’s car got hit which was a huge bummer. Luckily it wasn’t her fault and the other driver was insured so she got some cash. Cha-ching! We both agreed she doesn’t need to fix her car since it’s still functional. That means we also don’t have to look for new car insurance cheap. Her insurance premium won’t go up since the accident wasn’t her fault. Woot! We decided she can run this car into the ground and then when it’s on it’s last legs, we can get her a nice family car. Don’t worry, I won’t have her driving around in a mini van. We both love Subarus, so she’ll probably get a newer model of the Forester. I’d love to see her carting our little ones around in this sexy red model.
We’d have matching cars!
Or maybe this nice silver one. The dirt wouldn’t show up quite as much. Whatever she ends up with will be awesome.

I actually ended up getting to enjoy this past weekend (yay!). Because of a training session that fell on a Friday, I was able to have my first Friday night off in quite awhile. After a little bit of arguing, T managed to drag me out of the house instead of wasting the night sleeping. Despite my complaining, I actually had a pretty good time. Then Saturday was my favorite day. The sun was shining and it was actually pretty warm. We took our dog to the dog park, and then went for a nice walk along some trails. The weather reminded me that I can’t wait for it to be spring. Hopefully I’ll be able to take some more weekend days and just enjoy being outside.
T and I have both been coughing a little bit lately and feeling pretty tired. We’ve both been so much healthier living in our new place than we ever were in our last apartment in Santa Rosa. I think maybe it’s because the old place had dust in the filters or maybe it was just the plants that grow in that area. Either way, this is the first time either of us has felt slightly under the weather. T attacked the house with disinfectant and cleaned it from top to bottom. Hopefully it’s just allergies and change of weather for both of us. The good news is I don’t have to work tomorrow night, woot! I have all day training at work. Hopefully I’ll have enough energy to go out for a beer with T and some friends. Or maybe we’ll just go to bed early with hot tea and a snuggie.
I know I just got this job, but it’s really not working out. Graveyard shift is incredibly challenging. First you have to stay awake all night while you wander around. Second, if something exciting like a medical issue does happen, all you can think about is that 2 hour long report you have to write up afterwards. I’ve always thought it’d be cool to work in the medical field. I’ve looked into healthcare jobs but a lot of them require going back to school. I guess we’ll just have to see what happens with the sheriff job. Otherwise I may just have to take out more student loans and try my hand in the nursing field.
