Pickle In Your Pocket

T and I are headed to Carmel this afternoon. I can’t tell you how excited I am spend the next five days with my fiancée and my parents relaxing by the beach. With the wedding just weeks away it’s nice to be able to take a little vacation and just do a whole lot of nothing. She’s leaving behind her jewelry making tools and all things wedding related for five days of walking, lounging, book reading, drinking, and a little domino playing. I can’t wait!

Things have been pretty mellow around here. I’m starting to feel better about the sheriff thing and I’m anxious to go to the jail tour. August can’t get here fast enough!

T’s been kind of sad this past week, and I think a lot of it is just crazy hormones. Gotta love those huh? I should probably use ural flower delivery and send her some flowers to cheer her up. I know August is going to cheer her up too. We’ve got so many fun things planned. Miranda Lambert Concert, Carmel Trip, and then all the wedding stuff. Hurry up August!

Tonight we’re going to happy hour with some good friends of ours. Normally I’d get Mondays off but my stupid work has changed my schedule yet again and I have to work tonight. I won’t be able to over indulge in drinks, but it will still be fun. They’re bringing their one year old, who happens to be one of the cutest kids I’ve ever met. You know how a lot of babies need baby eczema treatment? Well this guy has never had that problem. I’m telling you he’s going to be heartbreaker when he’s older. I hope when we have kids they’re half as cute as this little man!

Today we spent Mother’s Day with my mom and dad. It was nice spending time with them. While we were visiting we started looking through old pictures of the family. It’s crazy how much I resemble my grandpa. We even have the same laugh lines. I’ve always hated them and looked into getting wrinkle filler but T said she loves them. She says they show how happy of a person I am. I guess I can handle that.

Our dog had to go to the vet today to get his back molar removed. Poor guy had chipped his tooth and his nerve was exposed. Ouch! Talk about the best appetite suppressants you could have. Poor boy. He came home so sad and out of it from the anestheia. Having him gone all day really made us miss him. He might be a pain in the ass sometimes, but he’s a sweet doggie.

I forgot to mention at the new job Ill be working security in a casino. WHich means I’ll be surrounded by smokers, bleck. Hopefully I won’t get hooked on the second hand smoke or else I’ll have to invest in nicorette and those electronic cigarettes to kick the habit. T would probably string me up by my balls if I started smoking. That doens’t sound too fun so I think I’ll be good and refrain .

I was able to ring in the New Year acnefree this year. Maybe it’s because things aren’t that stressful lately. I’ve got a new job to look forward to, and a new fiancee! We spent our New Year’s eve with some family and friends. I got to see my friend N, who was visiting from Brazil and whom I haven’t seen in at least a couple of years. She got to meet T, and I got to meet her boyfriend, who I’m happy to say is a nice guy.
After the family party we went to a house party, which was actually kind of lame. It was just beer pong which we weren’t up for playing. We left after the clock struck midnight, happy to crawl into bed. A pretty uneventful New Year’s but happy all the same.

Did I mention I got a new job? I’m working for a medical supply company, in charge of inventory and shipping. It’s a little bit stressful learning a new job, but besides that I absolutely love it. I’m on my feet most of the day, instead of sitting on my butt staring at a computer screen. I am responsible for a lot more, and I feel truly valued at my company. I’m anxious for the new benefits to kick in. I’m not sure what they cover yet, but I’m hoping it’s similar to the Blue Advantage plans out there. Just having them help with medical and dental is a big plus. Now I can start saving for our future! Woot woot.

This past week my girlfriend and I went on vacation with my parents to Carmel. It’s been my family’s tradition to go to Carmel every summer since I was 5 years old, so I was really looking forward to it. I missed out last year because of Fire Academy so I was really excited to go this year. Plus I got to bring Tess for the first time, and since she’s amazing, I knew it’d be the best trip out there yet.

We ended up having a great time walking on the beach, playing frisbee, I swam in the ocean even. Yes, it was that nice out in Carmel, where it’s normally foggy every day. Both Tess and I managed to lose weight on the trip because of all the walking we did. Walking is even better than the best weight loss pills out there. And the best part is it doesn’t even feel like work. It was a good thing we walked so much because we ate a lot of good food while we were there, and drank gin and tonics every day (my fav!).

All and all, it was a great trip, and I can’t wait to go back next summer!

I have a childhood friend who just lost his brother in a motorcycle accident. Motorcycles are extremely dangerous and I feel bad that it had to happen to my buddy who has also lost his mother and father in the last 3 years. I wasn’t super close to Dave but I grew up with him he was always a nice shy quiet kid. I know he will be dearly missed by his friends and family. The accident was a single vehicle accident and no one else was hurt so I don’t think the family will be needing the services of a Oakland motorcycle accident lawyer. But it is nice to know there are people out there who specialize in helping families like my friends. On a happier note my friend dan just got first at a divisional race for auto X in his class. Good job buddy.
