Pickle In Your Pocket

I’m thinking when I do eventually go to academy I’m probably going to need my own laptop. Otherwise I’d have to wrestle T away from hers, which is just a bad idea. I trust her to know what system memory I need and all of the other stuff. That’s the nice part about being with a computer genius. She hooks me up with the cool electronics and I use them! Hopefully I can get a cheap one that will do the job without breaking the bank.

T and I were talking about where to live after the wedding, if I don’t get this job I’ve applied for. We are looking into Austin, Texas. We could get a huge house for what a condo would cost here. T is already dreaming about flat screen entertainment centers, sectional couches, and a big sleigh bed. I mean, who wouldn’t want to live in a place like this?

Being stuck at home waiting for my new job to start I’ve had a lot of time to research things online. The more I think about it, the more I think owning a ranch would really suit me. I would love to buy an old work truck and fit it with truck accessories for the farm life. I could raise cattle or sheep and just live the simple life. Maybe someday T and I will move to Wyoming or something and live on a ranch. That would be sweet!

We’re loving the new place! It’s so much more quiet than our old apartment, and this place feels like a real home. We’ve even got an extra bedroom which we’ve turned into a project room/library for all of T’s Amazon books, and we also put a mini bar in there next to the table for when I have poker nights with the guys. It’s all coming together, and we couldn’t be happier with it. Hopefully we’ll stay in this place for a few years until we’re ready to buy our own house.

Lately I have had lots of time to sit and day dream during the day. Luckily for me work has been rather slow. Since Christmas is coming up and it is the time of year that people sit and wish for things they wont ever get or things they wont get for a long time I figured it would be good for me to make a post about my dream house. Below are the top things I would really love to see in my dream house.

1) Either a sprawling Ranch Style home or old Victorian farm house.
2) Wood Floors
3) bamboo blinds
4) at least 1 acre
5) oak trees or willows near by
6) 3-4 bedroom
7) 2000-2500 sqft
about 10 min outside town
9) good views
10) close access to a river, pond or lake
11) wrap around porch
12) lots of storage
13) outdoor shower
14) 2-3 bathrooms with large claw foot tub
15) large master bedroom and bathroom
16) large kitchen with 6 burner gas stove top and island, dishwasher and two sinks
17) skylights and sun-room
18) track lighting

Ok so the last few weeks have been rather stressful, because I have been on a pointless mission of trying to figure out my schedule so that I can fit in all the activities I usually participate in…So far no such Luck…this past week I have been feeling to sick to work out and have been just well enough to go to work and academy, but luckily the tides have turned and I am starting to feel much better.
Tess and I are going to start moving in my some of my furniture items today after work. We are both excited at the prospects of what is to come. Tess’s house mate started moving her things out yesterday and has already made a very large dent so I can now start to move in things like couches, coffee tables, etc. Finally it will feel like I am living there. We have also had some drama with the landlords at her place….not to sell them short but they are complete and utter tools. Tess and her house mate had a very small deposit when they moved in…so the plan was hopefully that I could just pay the house mate off her part of the deposit and then just take over her spot on the agreement. The landlords instead decided they wanted to charge me a higher deposit…which is legal when there is a change in the agreement but in all honesty is not warranted in our situation. I have great credit, I work for a property management company and I make three times what my portion of the rent is. However, these tools for some reason cant make decisions based on their on feelings, all their judgments are based on what a particular program tells them to do. for example the program says either the tenant is approved, approved with conditions or not approved. Apparently mine came back approved with conditions; based solely on credit. They didn’t call my employer, or check my prior landlord references….all they did was put in my social, name and date of birth and BAM they are told what to do. The only things I have on my credit are a school loan and a pay as you go Macy’s debit card. All of which are paid off monthly and I have a credit score in the 700′s yet somehow I am a risk. Anyways what really pissed me off were the following actions committed by this company that were very much a violation of personal information, secondly very incorrect, and thirdly very Illegal.
After they called Tess to tell her that I was approved but would have to pay an additional $500 dollars deposit Tess obviously questioned why and the landlord proceeded to tell her I have a bankruptcy on my account. Tess being shocked said, “no he doesn’t he is only 24 you are wrong” and then the landlord went on to tell her that maybe I wasn’t telling her the truth about my past. First of all the landlord was breaking the law in disclosing personal information about my credit to another individual without consent and secondly she was way wrong…when I called the landlord back and talked to her to tell her how wrong she was she looked at it again and realized that what she saw was just a bankruptcy filter on the program …no where on my print up does it say anything about bankruptcy. (I had to take in a real print out to them because they didn’t have one that stated my current payment obligations…all it said on theirs was whether or not i was approved) So she was lying to my gf, giving her false information and she had no permission to give out that info. Secondly they were running my credit as if I were paying half the rent. Which is the case, but legally they have to look at the combined income of the household as a whole not break it up per occupant. So when Tess and I realized that they were doing this we called them on it, and they proceeded to tell us that they were doing it this way because we were not a couple, as in married. That right there is clear cut discrimination. They have no way of knowing first of all whether or not we are married and secondly you cant do it that way period. Tess called them on it and all the landlord said was well if you two were married u would have moved in together in the beginning…stupid stupid lady…Anyways after I got done with them and brought up all their finer points so that they could see that they were obviously in the wrong they granted us permission to move in together under the same situation that Tess had with her other house mate had moved in under…needles too say I will never ever ever rent from this place again. They can eat my butt…I will never recommend them either….if you want to know what the complex is called feel free to ask. All I have to say is thank GOD the lease is done in January..then we can move into one of my places .
