The Things They Think Up

I’m amazed at the things they think up next. It seems like every day someone has invented a new contraption to make our lives easier. What I wouldn’t have given to have knee scooters when I broke my leg. Instead I had to deal with crutches which are pretty cumbersome. I’m looking forward to watching what they come up with in the next 20 years. I’m sure I’ll be amazed.

Dreaming of Living on the Land

Don’t you ever just wish that life was a bit more simple, like it used to be when people would homestead? Why is it that we’re stuck in this digital age where everyone spends time in the concrete jungle, watching tv, spending all their time online, and never really enjoying life? I find myself yearning for a life living on the land, fishing, farming and being outside. I hope that someday I can make those dreams a reality.

Counseling Session

We’re up in Oregon visiting my wife’s family, and my parents are up here as well. We made an appointment with my wife’s reverend from when she went to church here. I’m not one for churches, all I can think of is those unyielding wooden church chairs and boring sermons but I went for her sake. It turned out to be really helpful for both of us. I really enjoyed talking to the Rev, and it felt good to talk about our baby girl. We’ll always miss her, but we’re healing, bit by bit.

We’re going fishing

We are headed to Oregon to visit my inlaws for some much needed r&r. I plan on fishing all the way up. We are also hoping to go crabbing, beach combing, sight seeing and just enjoying the small town lifestyle. I just hope I get over this cough I have. I sound like a patient needing Mesothelioma treatment or something.

Lacrosse Boss

I’ve been getting back into Lacrosse lately. I didn’t used to watch it on tv, but I have been catching a few games here and there. It makes me want to buy a playbook on sale and start getting back into the sport in real life. It’s been years since I played on a team, but I think I could pick it back up pretty easily. It’d be fun to start a team in my neighborhood.

Getting My Masters

I think it’d be nice to eventually get my master’s degree. It’s something I’ve thought about doing in the past. I think I could do the gre prep online and get into a good graduate school fairly easily. I think it would only boost my resume and further my career. My wife would like to go back to school eventually too. I think it’d be pretty cool if we both had masters or phds one day.

Learning Guitar

My wife told me she wants to start learning guitar again. It’s a hobby we picked up a few years ago, but then like most hobbies it was forgotten. I think I’ll get her some ultrasone headphones so she can practice without disturbing the neighborhood. I have no doubt she’ll get good at it. She usually picks that stuff up pretty well. I love to hear her sing so it’d be great to hear her play too!

Need a New Computer

Our computer is on its last legs. It stinks that computers don’t seem to have a very long life anymore. It feels like after three years you have to buy a new one. When I’m ready to buy one, I think we’ll also look at computer carts and see if we can find something that we can easily cart around the house.

Being a Smart Consumer

Whenever I buy something online, I always make sure I read through apidextra cutomer reviews. I think it’s important to always do your research and to get the facts before buying a product. A well informed consumer is a smart consumer in my book. There is so much information out there that is readily available. People should be better consumers and make sure they’re informed.

Pool Safety

Next year our baby will be a full blown toddler. Woah, now that is a staggering thought isn’t it? I’m thinking of buying my parents a heavy duty cover pool for their pool to help keep it safe. I worry that their house is a complete toddler death trap as it is. They have a large pool, and also many sharp corners around their house. Not to mention all of the breakables. I don’t want them to feel they have to change up their house a lot, but a little safety precautions wouldn’t hurt. We’ll just have to wait and see how they adapt to being grandparents. I’m still not sure how I’ll adapt to being a parent!
